Breaking down barriers to learning.
At Spark Vale, every student arrives with an EHC plan in place. As a result, numerous learning needs or obstacles have already been recognised through the assistance of prior educational institutions or external organizations. We receive all EHC plans and related documents from previous schools or local authorities.
The SENDCO conducts an annual review of these plans and will propose any necessary alterations to local authorities for amendments. We frequently assess progress to identify the required support and determine if we can meet these needs by modifying our core offerings or if additional resources are necessary. During this phase, we may also recommend referrals to outside agencies for specialised assessments or extra support beyond the school environment, including CAMHs and input from educational psychologists.
Additional support includes:
Dyslexia Tuition
Speech & Language intervention
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
1:1 interventions
SEMH interventions
SEMH support is a resource available at Spark Vale designed to assist students requiring extra help both in and out of the classroom. Students can benefit from one-on-one support or participate in small group activities, including circle time. Over several weeks, these sessions aim to provide practical solutions and emotional support tailored to each individual's needs.
The goal of all interventions is to help our students refocus and equip them with the skills and confidence needed to get back on track with their learning, enabling them to achieve their full potential. At Spark Vale, we strive to meet our students' needs within a secure and nurturing environment. We customise the educational experience to align with the specific requirements of each young person, and additional support, such as counselling or interventions, is offered by a diverse team of specialists available to us.
